Thursday Thunks

I'm participating in Thursday Thunks this week for the first time.

Looks like I misunderstood the prompt the first time, and you're supposed to answer all the questions :)

1. There are a lot of emotions in life. Except for Mr. Spock. What emotionally scares you the most?

Losing the people I love. Definitely my biggest emotional fear.

2. Do you have any present goals that are tough enough that you'd like to forget about them?

Um, I don't think so. I have many I fear I won't accomplish, or am daunted by, but not any that come to mind that I would like to "forget" about.

3. Your Internet service goes down. What would you miss the most?

Eh...I dunno. Blogging is an obsession of sorts lately, and it really helps stoke my creativity (though it'd be better if I'd actually use the ideas to do what I'm inspired to, rather than just come up with more great ideas). I would miss facebook for the easy accessibility to everyone and all their information. But I think I'd probably miss email the most - I get updates from our realtor, information from my boss, etc. from email, and that's what I rely on most online.

4. Name one thing that you do as a parent that you absolutely know will make your kids happy. If you're not a parent, feel free to substitute "friend" or nomenclature that works for you. (Nomenclature? Can you tell that I stole this question?)

I will be substituting "spouse" and "husband," respectively. Let's see...he likes it a lot when I buy him sushi :)

5. If money was no object, and you had a free month or so, what would you love to do?

This is a tough one. I would hope to be the sort of person to say, "If money was no object, and I had a free month to do whatever I wanted, I would travel the world in an attempt to solve world hunger and poverty." Or even "If money was no object, and I had a free month to do whatever I wanted, I would do what I could to help my community and country at large to eradicate hunger and poverty."

Like I said, I want to be that person. I aspire to be that person.

However, my first thought when reading this question was..."Well, if we were in our new house by the time I acquired this limitless money and free time, I could remodel and decorate the whole place exactly to my tastes, and buy out a lot of Hobby Lobby and Lowe's inventory, and make art crafts, and...and...and..."

:sigh: I am such a greedy person :(

I suppose I could also hire people to help finish complete our new church building. Yes. That's something else I would do.

Pay off our mortgages...buy my brother a house and a new car...give money to the local pet shelters...buy more copies of my favorite discontinued book...buy lots of furniture off of craigslist and from thrift stores to redo and sell...

OOOOOH, and I'd figure out a way to get an art degree from a great art school...and see if I can get an apprenticeship of sorts with Steven Kellogg.

So, the longer I think about this, the more things I can come up with. But those are my first inclinations :)

6. Why did you start your blog? Was it because you were pissed at someone?

What a strange question. No, I didn't start a blog because I was angry at someone else. I think I started it because it was "the thing to do" at the time, and I remembered how much I enjoyed using xanga back in the day. Plus, it's a good way for people who are wanting updates on my life to catch up, if they were so inclined.

7. Kimber and Berleen (Thunks founders & BFFs) are finally going to meet in person. Who are you friends with in the blogosphere that you'd love to meet? Why?

I would really like to meet Helena from Life in the Pitts, I think. I don't know that I'd consider us friends at all, but I feel like we might be friends if we had met in real life. She cracks me up. I love reading all of her entries and, based on her various antics and general perspective on life, I think we'd probably get along really well.

8. When you were in high school, if you can remember back that far, what mistake did you make that you'd like to change?

Hmmm...high school. I don't know that the mistakes I made are ones I could really change. Most of them had to do with awareness and maturity...things most people lack at a high school level.

9. Do you believe in forever, as in 'love forever'?

I do. I really do. Though I don't believe it's effortless.

10. On a scale of 1-10, with 1 being uninhabitable and 10 being cleanliness that meets the standards of OCD, what is you favorite romantic comedy movie?

I don't really understand this question. However, the first movie that came to mind was Just Like Heaven. I loved her apartment in that movie.

Looks like good things to want, if amusing. I'd say the travel thing, but I LOVE to travel.

I know what you mean by blogging being an obsession.

Have a great Thursday!

"It seemed like the thing to do" is exactly why I started my first blog way back when. Then it became an obsession. Good answers, it was fun getting to "meet" you.
