Free Night Stand!

I got some free furniture, I got some free furniture, I got some free furniture, hey, hey, hey, HEY!

(Has anyone else noticed that that song is essentially my life's theme song? I change it to suit whatever situation I'm in, and sing it...for all occasions. It's quite odd.)

Someone down my street had placed some furniture items on the curb for free either last night or this morning. I noticed one of the tables, but didn't have time to swing by and take a closer look.

This evening, when I got home, I noticed the table again, only now it was in the driveway of my next door neighbor, and remembered the loot I had neglected to inspect. I peered down the street, and by the dim light of our neighbors' houses, I saw that there were still some things up for grabs.

I pulled out of the driveway, and drove slowly by their house, probably looking like a big 'ole creeper. There was a very cute little night stand (which I picked up), and two metal filing cabinets. Now, I probably could use the filing cabinets...or at least one...now that I think of it, I really should go back...I really don't want to go out in the cold night to procure one just now. Maybe if they're still there tomorrow. I would just hate to be "caught in the act" picking them up.

Anyway, the night stand is solid wood, in decent condition (slight water damage to the top), and I plan on stripping it, refinishing it, and trying to sell it! I am going to have to look online for some ideas...but I have a few in mind.

I'll post a picture of my freebie, and some inspiration links tomorrow for what I think I'll do to it. If you're really interested, maybe you could even vote on what I do! ;)

*EDIT* Well, I'm pathetic. After blogging, I couldn't stop thinking about those filing cabinets. Lars and I took a "road trip," and picked up one of them. The most marvelous thing about this is that they're WOODEN, not metal! The one I picked up is hideous. They both were. Brass hardware, yellowed-beige paint...can't wait to transform it and make it both aesthetically pleasing and useful. Ooooooh! Yay! I really think I'll just need the one, but having a pair would be nice. :sigh: Oh, what IS Sean going to do with me?

*EDIT 2* Oh heavens. I think I'm going to get the other filing cabinet. I just found an inspiration picture that I have been saving for a while, and these would be perfect. Again, pictures and links will be posted tomorrow. I'm going to bed.
