Oh no.
It's true.
I.
Am an art snob.
Not in the sense that I'm a know-it-all when it comes to painters, styles, or techniques, but in the sense that I can't seem to get myself to pay money for something I can make myself.
Unfortunately, I believe myself capable of making quite a lot. Which makes shopping pretty difficult...and to do lists never ending.
I went out today, to run some errands. One thing I really wanted to do was purchase some pretty fabric to stretch over a canvas as a temporary fix until I paint what I want to paint on it. I thought I had found the perfect fabric online...but I got my stores confused. I called JoAnne's (though they weren't even sure if they had what I was looking for), and ended up at Hancocks. I hadn't remembered the right store. Oh well. I had fun looking around, and was waffling between two possibilities. Once I narrowed it down to one, I couldn't justify spending money on the fabric because I could easily paint something similar...so, I left without the fabric I had hoped for, and with the original idea I had...just slightly modified to be a simpler painting until I can complete the one I really want to.
Enter Hobby Lobby. I bought four cans of spray primer, four cans of Rust-Oleum's American Accents Colonial Red for an upcoming project (hopefully I'll get to it tomorrow - I've got to get my projects done and sorted so we can keep clearing out this house!), two foam boards for painting something cool on, a picture for our guest room, and two jumbo frames (I mean, HUGE) for super cheap!
We just finished eating supper, and it is my full intention (after completing a few things I absolutely MUST do) to complete some art projects tonight, and finally get started on some others.
Perhaps I'll earn my right to my snobbery. We shall see.

I'm the same way. It's so ridiculous.
You can do it Jenn! And post pictures!! I have the same problem with jewelry - I absolutely cannot buy it if I know I can make it myself. But then I never make it, unless it's a gift for someone else. Good luck with your art projects :) I know you will do a fantastic job!
